As power density continues to rise in AI computing infrastructure, the power system must do more than meet capacity requirements. It must also balance continuity, maintainability, and energy efficiency.
1. Power continuity
Core computing loads are highly sensitive to brief voltage disturbances and power interruptions. Dual power sources, rapid STS transfer, and coordinated protection at multiple levels can reduce the impact of a single point of failure.
2. Maintainability during operation
Equipment maintenance and expansion should not interrupt critical loads. Well-designed bypass arrangements, modular power distribution, and clear circuit management help maintenance work proceed while the system remains in service.
3. End-to-end energy efficiency
Efficiency assessments should cover power conversion, distribution, and cooling. Beyond the efficiency of individual devices, they should account for actual load levels, redundancy strategies, and the data center environment.
For high-density computing, power architecture must move beyond "enough capacity" toward reliable operation over the long term.
